i already wrote this post, but it somehow got deleted.
i went for a trip around iceland this week. a group called SLÁTUR had a composition workshop so i decided to wander along. it was very fun. we used the days to write, and the evenings to rehearse. and then we had a concert in seyðisfjörður. Seyðisfjörður is very beautiful. The day before that i took the pictures, they are from the summersolstice. we went to some magical valley, which is suposed to be very important for the summersolstice. the art department from LHÍ, has somehow moved to seyðisfjörður during the summertime, and opened a café there. so i knew everybody in a strange town. we were staying in eidar, which is a bit outside of egilsstaðir. we had a whole dormitory school there. i think it went pretty well. seyðisfjörður could have been the capital of iceand, it was the biggest town about a 160 years ago. we went the north way back, so we finished the circle. but it only took 7 hours, we drove so fast. i made a little video documenting the trip. maybe i'll be able to put it up sometime, although i have no idea at the moment how to do that. oh whatever.
I have made this insane plan to go to CHina and have a gig. My mothers sisters husband is chinese, and he's halping me out. I'm trying to rig a trip to Peking this winter. Its insane, but nothing less will do. No, I couldnt organize a trip to NY or London, it had to be directly on the other side of the the globe. Now our CD is almost ready, we just have to master it, and work is underway. we're checking out how much that will cost in various places. then the master will be sent to china. its the cheapest way to manufacture it. ofcourse. i have a new favourite country.
