Thou fallen maestro, why did you have to go? I listen to the Death Cd's 10-15 years later, and it does not surprise me that it's one of the few things that has survived since that era. It's still melodic, it still rocks, it still has some concrete value. If you strip all the gimmicks away, at the heart of it you were just a composer. Death could as well have been classical music, with the clarity of the scales, the virtuosity, and the melodic content of the riff.
